How it works

Rapper Name Generator: How It Builds Your Name

This rapper name generator has two layers. Quick picks come from naming rules and word lists written for each style (Trap, Drill, Old School, Melodic, Boom Bap, Emo/Cloud): your name clipped, flipped or turned into initials, alliteration on your first letter, a title like "Dee the Landlord", a hometown nod, or a style word plus your vibe. Every name is labeled with the trick it used.

GOAT picks are written by a language model working from a rap naming method: name remixes, double meanings, alliteration, place nods, titles, slang, persona myths and names built for how they hit the ear. Each style has its own sound, so a drill name stays short and cold and a melodic name stays soft. Every GOAT pick comes with a one-line meaning tied to what you typed, a persona and the device behind it.

Both layers run the same filter. No number names like "Lux 8", only one Lil, Young or King per batch, no repeated word roots, and no names of real artists or public figures. Press "More quick picks" for a fresh set that skips what you have already seen.

Tips

How to Pick a Rap Name

  1. Say it out loud. If you stumble on it or have to spell it, listeners will too.
  2. Check that the Spotify, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube handles are free before you fall in love with a name.
  3. Search the name on Google. Avoid names of existing artists and registered trademarks.
  4. Match your style. A soft melodic name and a hard drill name send different signals.
  5. Keep it easy to search. A name that is also a common word is hard to find.
  6. Keep it short. One or two words fit on a cover, a logo and a caption.
  7. Check how it looks as a logo and a handle, in lowercase and in capitals.
  8. Make sure you can live with it. You will say it in every intro for years.

FAQ

FAQ

Is the rap name generator free?

Yes. Quick picks are free, unlimited and need no sign-up. GOAT picks are free 5 rounds a day without an account and 15 a day when you sign in. After that a round costs 10 credits.

How many names do I get?

Each click on Generate names prints 12 Quick picks and 8 GOAT picks. Press More quick picks for another 12 that skip the ones you have seen.

Can I use a generated name commercially?

The generator does not check trademarks or streaming catalogs. Before you release music or sell merch under a name, search for it, check trademark databases and the streaming platforms. This is not legal advice.

How do I check if a rap name is already taken?

Search the name on Google, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. Also check a trademark database for your country.

What do the persona and device tags mean?

Persona is the character a name suggests, like Hustler, Storyteller or Underdog. Device is the naming trick behind it, like a name remix, a double meaning or a place nod. Use them to pick a name that matches how you want to sound.

Can it make duo or group names?

Yes. Switch to Duo & Group, add two names if you want, and pick a style.

Are my saved names stored anywhere?

Saved names stay in your own browser (localStorage), and clearing site data removes them. Quick picks are made in your browser. For GOAT picks, the name, style, vibe, city and persona you typed are sent to our server and our AI model provider to write the names. We do not store them in a database.

Can I make a song with my new name?

Yes. Each name has a "Make a rap video with this name" link that opens the AI rap video generator with a starter topic.
